Since 1981, our practice has grown and Olup Law has become one of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro region’s leading family law firms. Our experience and skills are highly-regarded by the bench, the bar, and our former clients.

With over 60 years of combined experience we understand that coping with family disputes and divorce can be frustrating and confusing, putting the well-being of your family, your children, and your property at risk. At Olup Law, we are dedicated to empowering you with the information and counsel you need to understand Minnesota family law and make an informed decision about the family law issues affecting your life.

Our family law practice includes the following areas:

  • Antenuptial Agreements –If you are getting married and own complex financial assets, are the beneficiary of trusts or have children from a prior relationship, our experienced antenuptial agreement attorneys can help you plan for the future.
  • Alternative Dispute Resolution – Increasingly, divorcing parties are seeking ways to avoid the costly, time-consuming, and often harmful aspects of litigation. The popularity of mediation and other forms of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) has exploded in family law since the late 1990’s.
  • Postnuptial Contracts – After your marriage, if the need arises for a contractual agreement regarding financial or other issues we can assist in reviewing those issues with you and helping you create the terms of a postnuptial agreement to protect your interests.
  • Child Custody – Offering creatively-designed solutions to meet the unique needs of every family, we offer our clients the counsel they need to reach agreements that serve the best interests of their children.
  • Child Support – At Olup Law, ensuring that children have the financial support they require to meet their needs is an important aspect of our commitment to children. Our dedicated Minnesota divorce lawyers believe that children have the right to be supported by both parents.
  • Spousal Maintenance (Alimony) – More commonly known as spousal support or alimony, spousal maintenance is financial support that is provided by one spouse to another according to the terms of an antenuptial agreement, court order, or settlement such as those made in mediation.
  • Division of Assets – This generally refers to the assets owned and debts owed by the parties individually or jointly. Our attorneys can assist you in understanding the division of the assets and debts that are unique to your case.
  • Estate Planning – Olup Law offers our clients the service of preparing simple wills and trusts at the conclusion of their divorce in order to protect their estate at the time of their death.
  • Same Sex Marriage – On August 2013 Minnesota became the 12th state to legalize marriage between same-gendered couples. Same-sex couples who married on or after August 1, 2013 and who meet the residence requirements (180 days of residence) need to obtain a divorce to dissolve their marriage. Our attorneys can assist you in understanding the issues and laws that will arise in your divorce.
